shutupandkillsomething: (x [admin] dungeon door)

Creepy Door
While the mechanical spiders were (rightfully) holding the attention of most of the people who had come through the locked door, a group of five had noticed a final door at the back of the chamber. It was tall, matte back metal, and exuded a decidedly menacing air.

Coulson
Frankly, there were other people better suited to fighting robots and the like. Slinking off to investigate a mysterious door? That was more like it as far as Coulson was concerned..

Emily
Emily had nothing to do with the fight. She wasn't even a decent meat shield, so she was pretty certain people wouldn't mind if she sneaked around.

Reaching a supposedly well guarded door and inspecting it was more down her alley. Well, maybe the alley next to hers, considering she also felt absolutely out of place in the whole setting, but at least it didn't involve fighting for her life this time. Yet.

Éponine
Sneaking about in the shadows? It was almost like being home, as far as Éponine was concerned, and she wasn't stupid enough to actually get into a physical fight, particularly with freakish clockwork things like those spiders.

"Well, well," she singsonged in a low voice, mostly to herself but loud enough for anyone in her immediate vicinity to hear. "Let's find out what this is all about, shall we?"

She crept toward it, intent on finding out whether it could be forced.

Bo
Bo had the same thought, but less with the creeping and more with the kicking.

"Ow."

So that was a no, then. Even with supernatural strength.

Éponine
Oh, good, someone else had gone to the trouble for her.

"If you meant to knock, that wasn't a very bright way to go about it," Éponine noted as if trying to pick a lock on that door would have had better results. "But anyhow, now that you've done it. Whatever's back there, d'you suppose it'll answer?"

Coulson
"I expect something will happen," Coulson interjected. "You don't install a creepy, unique door like this unless you want to show something off."

Raven
Raven backed away from the fight. Even if the spiders were mechanical, she didn't want to let herself get too caught up in the emotions that came with fighting and start to possibly lose control and turn on the people she was with. Plus that door was definitely getting her attention.

"There is something behind it, I can feel it," she said, coming up behind the others. "We must go that way."

Creepy Door
When all five of them stood in front of it, the door cracked open across the middle like a set of black teeth, sliding silently up into the ceiling and down into the floor, and offering a view into a blindingly white room. So much brightness after a week spent in torchlight was intended to be overwhelming. The Toymaker had put too much time into setting up his game not to spend some thought on the little things.

Coulson
What Coulson wouldn't give for his sunglasses right now. Oh well. "That would have to be an invitation," he said, trying to shield some of the light with a hand as he still tried to get a look inside. He didn't want to step foot inside the room COMPLETELY blind, after all.

Emily
"It's like saying 'oh you got all the way here? Least I could do is burn your eyes for your troubles'," Emily said as she winced at the light.

Coulson
"At least it wasn't lasers," Coulson said, looking on the figurative bright side as he adjusted to the far more literal bright side.

Emily
"That's the spirit?" Emily cheered without much conviction. "It would kind of suck that we got all the way here to get vaporized anyway."

Bo
Bo said a word they'd probably bleep on SyFy, ducking her head to block the light with her hair for a second as her eyes adjusted.

Éponine
What Éponine hissed half under her breath when she first closed her eyes against the sudden brightness was colorful enough that even the most open-minded literary figures of her time period wouldn't try to sneak it into their written works.

She had to blink a few times and shake her head until the spots went away, but when she opened them again and squinted through the doorway she couldn't help an admiring "God, that's clever."

Raven
Raven gasped and jumped back, thinking it sunlight at first. Fortunately, she didn't burst into flames, but it did still hurt her eyes. She shielded them for a moment, trying to grow accustomed to it, then began to look around.

Creepy Door
As soon as the five stepped through the doorway, the door disappeared like it had never existed, leaving them trapped inside.
